An “internship” is a structured program designed by the employer to provide the student intern with a variety of learning experiences in the hospitality business. Students have the opportunity to gain valuable, hands-on experience with internships at hotels, restaurants, onsite foodservices, country clubs, resorts, casinos and more. Although a formal internship is not required as part of the 1,000 hours of the work experience requirement, qualified students who participate in such a program find it very beneficial in exploring job options and establishing contacts. Corporations which invest time and training in student interns are often interested in hiring those students after graduation. Internships are offered on-campus and off-campus.
- On-Campus Internships (for credit)- Available through Penn State Hospitality Services, Penn State Foodservices, Bryce Jordan Center and Penn State Bakery
- Off-Campus Internships (for credit but not required)- A variety of internships are available across the country and promoted through our Career Service Center and students may locate and obtain their own internships with proper approval.
