Etiquette Today: Examining Its Role in Today’s Job Search
As societal norms continue to evolve, it is not altogether clear what constitutes best practice for today’s job search. How important is a handshake? Are tattoos okay? Do we still need a handwritten thank you note?
Drawing on Dr. Michael J. Tews, Associate Professor in the School of Hospitality Management and colleagues’ new research findings, this webinar will explore what recruiting principles value most, where there is the most variability in recruiters’ etiquette values, and evaluate alignment in recruiter and student etiquette values. Jason Bayona, Senior Director of University Relations for Marriott International and 2005 Graduate of HRIM will be joining Dr. Tews to share his insights. You’ll obtain a more nuanced picture of the role of etiquette for todays’ recruits.
Dr. Tews research will help identify best practices to implement strategies in recruiting and hiring the right talent for your company.
- How recruiters make hiring decisions today?
- How etiquette matters relative to other candidates’ qualifications?
- How recruiters and job candidates differ (and in agreement) regarding etiquette?
Dr. Michael J. Tews is an Associate Professor for the School of Hospitality Management at Penn State University specializing in Human Resources Management & Organizational Behavior.
